As I'm learning more about the Korean education system, it seems common for a high school to specialize in one or two specific areas of study which will draw students interested in pursuing those areas at the university level. For instance music is not a high priority at my high school - there is one music teacher for over a thousand kids (as far as i know). If you are serious about pursuing music at the university level you will probably not come to Taesung. However, if soccer or competing in taikwondo appeals to you, Taesung is one of the premier high schools in the country. In 2010 the Taesung soccer team was crowned national champs and the taekwondo competetors regularly challenge the best in the country.
Recently, the taikwondo squad put on an artistic performance in front of the student body as part of the festivals to celebrate Chuseok, the largest Korean national holiday. Check out the video below for some artistry and some impressive athleticism.
